The Future Burns Bright

Kirsteen McCue's name recently exploded on to both the Ayrshire & the Scottish press
as the first woman to deliver the Immortal Memory in the history of the
Bachelors' Club in Tarbolton.

However, it was her role as co-director of the University of Glasgow's "Centre for Robert Burns Studies" that attracted Ayr Burns Club to invite Dr Kirsteen McCue, to be their
principal speaker at their meeting on 25^th March 2015.

The "Centre" is currently undertaking a 15 year project towards the production of a
multi volume edition of Robert Burns works. 
Commenced in 2009, "Editing Robert Burns for the 21^st
Century".  The project has already gained
major assistance from the Art & Communities Research Council.

Kirsteen's specific area of specialism within the project is "Burns's Songs for George
Thomson" which will place the partnership of Burns & Thomson in an entirely
different context from past work & draw, for instance, on the work of
composers such as Beethoven & Haydn to arrange a range of melodies for
voice & piano with parts for violin & cello.

For those with a love of & an interest in Robert Burns & his works, this
will be a unique opportunity to hear about this key piece of literary work, its
aims, objectives & progress thus far.

Ayr Burns Club welcomes both members & non-members to its various events at our
new location at the Ambassador Suite, the Mercure Ayr Hotel, Dalblair Road, Ayr.
